Emulsions
We supply a complete line of asphalt emulsions throughout the Northeastern U.S. Our emulsions are sold to contractors for various uses including chip seal, cold mix paving, full depth reclamation base stabilization, cold in-place recycling, tack coat, micro surfacing, soil encapsulation and other specialized uses. Our emulsions have been used extensively by municipalities and private clients in both new road construction and maintenance. We produce both anionic and cationic emulsions at our facilities in New Windsor, NY and Athens, NY. Because of the large storage capacity of our locations, we are able to produce many grades of emulsion simultaneously. This means our customers are provided with emulsion that meets their specific need on time, every time.

Emulsions have long been used for chip seals and cold mix pavements as well as other pavement maintenance uses. Since we have experience in both the application and the production of emulsions, we understand how critical the quality of the emulsion is. We maintain a close relationship with some of the largest emulsifier suppliers around the world. These relationships allow us to expand our knowledge base and to help you solve unique problems and address unique applications.

Liquid Calcium Chloride
Calcium chloride is a very basic chemical with unique attributes that allow it to be used in many applications. Calcium chloride is hygroscopic; it likes water and draws moisture in from the atmosphere. This property enables it to be used as a dust palliative to keep otherwise dusty, unpaved roads from creating clouds of dust. By keeping this material in the road bed and not in the air, it reduces the annual maintenance of these unpaved roads and the pollution caused by the particulate matter.

Calcium chloride also has tremendous ice melting capability that is far better than sodium chloride (i.e. rock salt) as it melts ice to much lower temperatures, using less material than rock salt. By pre-wetting rock salt with liquid calcium chloride, a 30% reduction in the bounce and scatter is achieved which further reduces its use. A decreased dependency on rock salt to melt ice also reduces the harm caused to vegetation and the environment. Calcium chloride reduces overall snow and ice control expenditures, helping to decrease maintenance costs in the winter months. Its versatility makes it ideal for roadway applications all year long and a necessity for any anti-icing or de-icing program.

Liquid calcium chloride has additional uses in tire ballasting, in accelerating Portland cement concrete and in water treatment. We are proud to offer Oxychem’s LIQUIDOW™ liquid calcium chloride exclusively. Oxychem purchased this product line from Dow Chemical which had been a leader in the liquid calcium chloride business for over 100 years.

We maintain a fleet of our own delivery vehicles because we realize how critical our performance is to public safety. By maintaining our own fleet of specialized trucks dedicated to hauling calcium chloride, we are able to apply the liquid calcium chloride for dust control and we are able to deliver the product to you in winter when time sensitive delivery is crucial.
