Road Construction / Cold Mix Paving

Peckham Materials Corp., a subsidiary of Peckham Industries Inc., performs cold mix paving a.k.a. moto-paving throughout the Hudson River Valley, east to Massachusetts and west to Binghamton. Cold mix paving provides the highway agency or contractor with a durable, economical bituminous pavement. The process involves a unique combination of a single paver and pugmill that takes aggregate and combines it with asphalt emulsion. These materials are mixed in the pugmill and then paved onto the roadway. Because the screed and paving process are essentially the same as used in a hot mix paver, the ride characteristics of a moto-paved road are the same.

Perhaps the greatest advantages come in the pavement itself. By using a "cold process", the pavement retains its ability to flex under load without cracking or raveling. These factors are very critical when considering the selection of a pavement for a road that may not have an adequate base, and therefore makes cold mix paving ideal for many local and rural roads. As one of the pioneer companies in New York both in producing and installing cold mix paving material - we have the knowledge and equipment to help you build roads that the public will be pleased to travel.
