NY Releases CHIPS Funding for Highway Projects

Peckham Industries applauds recent action taken by New York’s Governor Cuomo and other officials to release the funding for CHIPS (the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program). Through our recent contact with elected officials, we were able to communicate the key factors that will ensure the public’s safety, the transportation of goods, and the provision of jobs in the construction sector.

As a result, local municipalities have access to the funding that is vital to the maintenance and repair of local roads that New Yorkers use every day. It was critically important that officials heard of the jobs that would be created and sustained and of the vital work that needed to be done to keep our local roads some of the best in the nation.

We thank Governor Cuomo for acting on this important matter as well as the NYS Department of Transportation for their diligence in administering the CHIPS program.

With this funding in place, we will be putting New Yorkers to work, and we will be enhancing the safety and the user experience for all New Yorkers travelling on their local roads and bridges.
